Just wanted a share a little snippet of something I've been working on as a personal project. Looking at this drawing, I can see a lot of my earliest influence in it: Bill Watterson.
I remember when I unearthed a copy of Something Under the Bed is Drooling in my parent's garage. I was in 4th grade and given the context of how I found it, I assumed I had stumbled across a grownups-only-book, so obviously I stole it. For the next 10 years of my life, I started nearly every morning with a bowl of cereal and Calvin and Hobbes.
It's fun now as an adult to recognize my lifelong admiration for Calvin and Hobbes in my own work. Obviously my work doesn't resemble Watterson's; like most art it's evolved away from the original inspiration into its' own thing. But when I look at my work,, I can see the years I spent reading Calvin and Hobbes with my breakfast, and it's a good feeling.
